I paint because I feel compelled to study the surprising elegance of simple things around me - the wrinkles in tree bark, the light reflected in glass, the edge of a torn leaf, reflections dancing on water or even the sunlight linking the tops of a mountain range. I'm not sure why these things fascinate me but they do. I have a wonderful time picking out the most visually appealing factor in my subject, enhancing it on canvas/paper and cropping it down almost to the point of abstraction. I have painted all my life and have a degree in Applied Art from Sophia Polytechnic in Bombay, India. I also have a BA from the University of Bombay. Currently I live and paint in California. I am the newsletter editor and webmaster at the Fine Arts League of Cupertino (www.falc.org) and I am an exhibiting member with the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Association (www.SCVWS.org) and the Los Gatos Association (www.LGAA.org). | ||||||||||
